From Assets to Data: Understanding the Installed Base to Create Digital Transformation Roadmaps - Schneider Electric

November 4, 2026
Design, Build & Investment Theater

In the data center segment, the installed base (medium- and low-voltage electrical infrastructure, cooling systems, UPS, BMS/DCIM control, and their lifecycle) is often a blind spot for the operator: outdated documentation, obsolete equipment, and a lack of sensors make it difficult to maintain the levels of availability and energy efficiency required by the business.

The reality is that 79% of facilities have high levels of obsolescence, 89% do not have up-to-date single-line diagrams, and 76% have very basic monitoring systems.

This presentation outlines a four-step method—audit of the installed base, consulting to define use cases (business continuity, PUE/energy efficiency, predictive maintenance), design of a monitoring architecture, and turnkey deployment or deployment via a center of excellence—to turn that snapshot of the assets into actionable data.

We will demonstrate how a thorough understanding of the installed base serves as a solid foundation on which to build digital twins, modernization plans, and digital transformation roadmaps for the data center.
