With a background in Mechanical Engineering (Spain), a degree from IESE Business School (Spain), a specialist in strategy from Georgetown University (USA) and the IMTC held in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania (USA), Santiago's curiosity has led him to develop his professional career in different sectors (logistics and transportation, pharmaceuticals, etc.) and locations around the world. A pioneer in the implementation of the neutral data center business in Spain and Portugal, in 2001 and for 16 years he was director of the main data center company in the Iberian Peninsula, Itconic (formerly Telvent), investing in the construction of five data centers in Madrid, Barcelona, Lisbon and Seville, with a total of 55,000 square meters and more than 35 MW of power, to serve 285 clients, and becoming the leader with 65% of the data center market. Itconic was acquired by Equinix in 2018. Santiago is once again embarking on an implementation and expansion project as vice president of Data4 in Spain. But it is with the investment fund Stoneshield, which hired him and appointed him CEO in April 2021, to create and develop a new company, XDATA Properties, and carry out the largest data center project in Spain, with the acquisition of 60 000 square meters of land and 79 MW of computing power. In October 2022, Stoneshield entered into a sale agreement with Iron Mountain and its data center division for the acquisition of 100% of XDATA Properties. - Member of The Green Grid and the European Conduit Code. Speaker and jury member of the Datacenter Dynamics Awards in London (2010, 2011 and 2012). Promoter of the first Tier IV certification of a neutral data center in Spain by the Uptime Institute, as well as the first M&O certification also by Uptime.
