Miguel López-Valverde
Councilor of Digitalization,
Government of the Community of Madrid
He was born in Bilbao in 1972. He holds a degree in Telecommunications Engineering from the Polytechnic University of Madrid, specializing in Transmission and Communication. Management Development Program at IESE Business School.
He has developed his professional activity in different positions within the field of Information Technologies and for more than 10 years linked to the health and research sector.
He began his professional career in 1995 in SIEMENS in automation and communications consultancy, and later in 1996 in Kern Datanet as a Communications Consultant, after which in 1998 he held the position of Head of development and evolution of Outsourcing projects in SemaGroup (currently ATOS). In 2000, he joined Informática El Corte Inglés (IECISA), where he was initially responsible for Information Systems Outsourcing projects, later becoming a senior consultant in operational systems projects for the Telcos and Utilities sector. In 2005 he created and organized the Small and Medium Business Department (SMB) from IECISA for El Corte Inglés.
In 2009 he started collaborating with the Life Supporting Technologies (LST) Department of the Escuela Superior de Ingeniería de Telecomunicación (UPM) in the development of biomedical engineering research projects in Europe, activity developed to date.
In 2018 as Director of Healthcare for Madrid and Castilla La Mancha in IECISA, he is responsible for the Medical Imaging Project of SESCAM (Ykonos VII), in 2021 already from INETUM (IECISA-GFI) he is also in charge of the management of transformational projects and initiatives for Grupo Quirón Salud and Quirón Prevención.
During the last Legislature, he has been the General Director of Information Systems and Digital Health in the Ministry of Health of the Community of Madrid, from where he has initiated the most ambitious process of digitization carried out in the Madrid healthcare system: the implementation of the Madrid Center for Genomic Analysis, the development of virtual health card services, the use of Artificial Intelligence in areas such as disease prevention and early detection systems or the efficient use of medicines.
