Madrid, October 17, 2024. Madrid Tech Show, the benchmark event for executives and professionals in the cloud, cybersecurity, big data, AI, data centers, eCommerce and digital marketing sectors, closed its fourth edition today, consolidating its success. The event has had more than 22,500 attendees, which represents an increase of 29% compared to 2023 and compared to the expected increase of 22%, highlighting the level of these as 32% of professionals are CEOs or occupy top-level management positions.

The event was attended by more than 400 exhibiting companies and more than 350 top national and international speakers who presented the trends and the future of the sector. According to Agustín Torres, president of CloserStill Media Spain, "Madrid is the city where technology decisions are made, and this edition proves it. It has been a resounding success, we have exceeded our expectations", in fact, more than 75% of the exhibitors of this edition have already assured their attendance next year, which means that by 2025 Madrid Tech Show will have to add another pavilion in IFEMA, adding more than 25,000 square meters.

During October 16 and 17, Madrid has become the global epicenter of the cloud sector, cybersecurity, big data, AI, data centers, eCommerce and digital marketing thanks to this event that has boosted the local economy and strengthened the city's reputation as an important center of innovation and entrepreneurship in the digital sphere. In fact, since the first edition of the Madrid Tech Show in 2021, it has experienced a 140% growth in visitors, from 7,500 visitors to 18,000, and doubling the number of exhibitors, from 200 to 400. National and international speakers from leading companies such as IBM, Vargroup, Oracle, Huawei, Schneider, Paypal, or Google Cloud have highlighted the trends and challenges of the sector.

Among the highlights was Ana Martínez Madarnás, LOEWE's Global Traffic Manager, who reflected on how digital and offline channels can offer a successful and enriching combination for the end user. "We try not to see a duality between digital and analog, but rather that the digital channel is an assistant and one more point of contact that customers have to converse with the brand," added Martínez.

Other protagonists of the first day were Julián Martín, Head of Payments and Partnerships at Miravia, and Guillermo Barberá, Director of Ecommerce Sales at Samsung. Both talked about flexible payments and their impact on the growth of commerce, with special emphasis on the younger generations. "Flexible payment has a greater adaptation among younger generations. Specifically, 60% of users who opt for this option are from generation Z or millennials," said Martin.

Other speakers who opened the doors of the second round of the event were Beatriz Giménez, Sr. Country Director at PayPal Iberia, and Bàrbara Malet, CMO & Growth expert for startups, scale-ups and SMB, whose presentation focused on the challenges facing eCommerce. Both pointed out "the three big challenges of eCommerce: personalization, loyalty and recurrence". "We know that acquiring a new customer can be up to 7 times more expensive than retaining an existing one," said Malet.

One of the speakers who closed this second day was Giulio Antonelli, Head of Enterprise Sales at Amazon Shipping, in a presentation on the logistics network that drives Amazon. Antonelli also highlighted some of the challenges and opportunities facing logistics today: "Buying online is very fast, but customer satisfaction linked to this last mile has not evolved as much. This is a challenge and an opportunity to put more focus on the consumer and their shopping experience."

Next stop: Madrid Tech Week, the great European week of technology.

The President of the Community of Madrid, Isabel Díaz Ayuso, presented during the second day of Madrid Tech Show the new great bet to turn the city of Madrid into a reference in Europe in the technology sector, Madrid Tech Week: the European Week of Technology. The presentation was also chaired by Agustín Torres, President of CloserStill Media España, and attended by José Luis Martínez-Almeida, Mayor of Madrid, and Ángel Asensio, President of the Madrid Chamber of Commerce and President of the IFEMA Governing Board.

During Madrid Tech Week, the Spanish capital will host in the same week, during October 2025, the two major technology events of the year: Madrid Tech Show and the Global Mobility Call, which between them will attract close to 30,000 visitors and more than 700 top-level exhibitors, including companies such as Google, IBM, Amazon, Adif and Uber.

Madrid Tech Week, organized by Madrid Tech Show, IFEMA, the Community of Madrid, the Madrid City Council and the Madrid Chamber of Commerce, will become the sector's week of reference in Spain and Europe, and will also be supported by activities organized by the public and private sectors, such as gala dinners or the launch of Tech companies, which will make it the European week of technology.
