The cloud will reach its true maturity as soon as FinOps is widely used
)
The use of the cloud is growing with maturity and dynamism, but many companies face difficulties in cost control, with some even repatriating loads. FinOps emerges as a key answer to optimize and regain control, an approach in which Todo En Cloud brings its vision through Manuel Argiz, CEO of Todo En Cloud.
As a specialized player present in the market for more than 10 years, how do you observe the evolution not only of cloud adoption, but also of the diversification of offerings and uses?
It is clear that the cloud continues to spread in enterprises and that both operators and technologies have contributed to this democratization. In fact, the cloud has become the pillar of all the new disruptive technologies that are appearing in recent years, from blockchain to long learning models so, and this is what we observe, the cloud has gone from being a fad to a technological pillar.
The result is that almost all companies have at least part of their system in the cloud, so we are at a point where the question is no longer just quantitative, but also qualitative.
Qualitative, that is, can you explain that to us?
Well, as happens in any phase of adoption of new models, the cloud model spread quickly, without all dimensions of the company being involved in this change. On the one hand. On the other hand, it was a new paradigm, insofar as the cloud, with its pay-per-use model and on-demand or programmatic provisioning of resources, freed itself from the vision of annual budget planning and expense control, as had always been practiced in IT departments. This change is now forcing companies to consider how to maintain tight control and, consequently, to question its uses. As you will have noticed, some companies, faced with costs they considered excessive, have ended up repatriating all or part of their systems to their own data center, which shows that the question of costs remains and will remain fundamental and that, when exercising control over these costs, questions such as: why do we use all these resources and make reasonable use of them, both in quantitative and qualitative terms?
What do you see as the answer to this challenge and how do you recommend companies act to prevent some of them from questioning their initial decision to implement the cloud?
This will be the theme of our conference on Wednesday 30 at Tech Show Madrid, so I invite you to participate. But, in summary and to simplify, our conviction is that most of the difficulties are, on the one hand, often original, since it is true that the initial design of a cloud architecture and management software components is essential for the correct sizing and use of resources, but, on the other hand, the cloud gives rise to a new governance model that aims to be, in essence, more participatory, at the level of the different departments involved (IT and also business, purchasing, finance, HR, etc.). Regarding this second aspect, the answer is provided by the FinOps methodology, which is currently becoming widespread. At Todo En Cloud, we firmly believe in the FinOps principles, although the current model advocated by the FinOps.Org organization is aimed more at large groups and companies that undoubtedly have considerable means, and that a more practical and pragmatic approach is more than ever right to facilitate the inclusion of small and medium enterprises. This is our axis of development on this topic, FinOps, certainly, but for everyone and in a pragmatic way. I would add that, today, companies are not only interested in the financial dimension of this topic, but also in the environmental dimension and their responsibility from this point of view. A topic where FinOps can also be applied.
To go deeper into this topic, Manuel Argiz (CEO) will present Todo En Cloud's original approach to FinOps, as well as a special launch offer on the occasion of the show. Keynote 30 Oct 2025 16:30 - 16:50 CLOUD KEYNOTE THEATRE
