E-commerce, Reinvented by AI

E-commerce, Reinvented by AI

As the only Shopify Platinum Partner in Spain and Italy, Rocket Digital explains what sets apart a brand that AI agents recommend from one they ignore. The difference isn't the product—it's the infrastructure behind it.

Agents Can't See You
71% of Spanish e-commerce businesses already consider agent-based AI a priority for the next three years. But a perfectly structured catalog is useless if no one invests in ensuring the brand appears where the agent is searching. And a flawless media campaign won’t convert if the checkout isn’t ready for a purchase recommended by AI.

What’s Changing with Agent-Based Commerce
Agent-based commerce isn’t just about consumers asking a chatbot questions before making a purchase. Rather, it’s when ChatGPT, Gemini, Copilot, or Google AI Mode compare prices, answer questions, and move the purchase forward without the user ever visiting your website. Juniper Research estimates that this channel will generate $1.5 trillion in 2030, and in Spain, 33% of consumers already use AI to decide what to buy.

The mistake of treating it as a platform issue, or a media issue
Most agencies solve only half the problem. Some are experts in Shopify but don’t handle a single euro of media spending. Others manage campaigns with ease but don’t understand why a poorly structured catalog makes a brand invisible to an AI agent. Agent-driven commerce doesn’t forgive that missing half: it’s useless for your product listing to be readable by ChatGPT if no one is generating the demand that leads to that conversation, and a brilliant campaign is useless if the checkout can’t convert what that campaign brings in.

At Rocket Digital, we are the only Shopify Platinum Partner in Spain and Italy, and we are also a Google Premier Partner with teams that directly manage accounts on Meta, TikTok, Pinterest, HubSpot, and Klaviyo. A single team operates both infrastructure and media with a single goal in mind—the one that truly matters to a merchant.

What Does It Mean to Put Resources at the Service of E-commerce?
In practice, this translates into very specific decisions:

  • The media budget is allocated to areas where the catalog is already ready to be recommended, not where there is more bidding leeway available.
  • The affiliate channel is measured within the same dashboard as Google Ads or Meta: what is recommended, what information gaps are holding it back, and what conversions originate there.
  • Inventory levels are adjusted based on stock and actual availability to avoid creating demand that the checkout process cannot fulfill in a timely manner.

Because paid and organic channels can no longer operate in silos: the advantage lies in building a holistic strategy that captures demand while also positioning the brand as an expert leader in the specific solutions consumers need.

None of these decisions make sense if the platform and media are managed by two teams that don't communicate with each other. It makes sense when the same team reviews both the product data and the campaign data at the same time.

The question isn't whether your e-commerce business should have a presence in AI. It's whether, when a user searches for your category, there's someone behind the scenes making sure your product is discoverable and that there's real demand driving traffic to it. That can't be solved by a platform alone, nor by a media agency alone. It's solved by someone who knows how to manage both at the same time.

We'll be discussing this and other challenges facing e-commerce with AI on November 3 at Bold Talks.
